Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Happy New Year!  I hope that this finds you well and that you enjoyed a beautiful holiday season celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus!

I wanted to take a minute to update you on community news.  The fall gatherings were amazing!  I think that we’ve all missed our community fellowship, and our numbers grew at each meeting.  I’m sincerely hoping that many of you will attend the January gatherings so we can get 2022 off to a good start for our community!

January 10 – North Gathering at Cross Tracks Church in Liberty Hill

January 24 – South Gathering at Marble Falls FUMC

We are moving forward with the long-awaited 2020 Men’s Walk scheduled for March 24-27.   Since Matt’s team had most of their materials printed and ready when their walk was postponed, this will be Men’s Walk 2020 even though it’s held in 2022.  The teams are about to begin their intensive preparation for the walk with the first team meeting on January 15, with both conference room and background teams meeting.  If you are scheduled to work the Men’s Walk, either inside or outside, please make plans to attend that meeting.  We also NEED pilgrims so please get those applications turned in right away!

In Board news, I am happy to announce that all Board members agreed to extend their terms as per the Upper Room guidance we were given.  I truly appreciate their willingness to continue serving this community!  We still have numerous board vacancies and need representation from the north sector of the community; but we are making strides in that, as well.   With Tom’s leaving and the shuffling of positions, we had no assistant lay director to chair the nominating committee.  At my request, the board voted to allow me to appoint someone to chair that committee, and I appointed Tirish Mynk.  Ti has been working diligently and already has three people who have agreed to serve if elected.  We still need 1-2 additional people; and I ask that you search your heart to see if you’d be willing to serve as a board member for the community.  I am hopeful that the board will be able to approve a slate of nominees at the February board meeting and that the community will be able to vote soon after so that new board members can begin their terms.

In closing, let me say again what a pleasure it is to serve this community as we work together to serve God.  I look forward to the coming year and all that it holds for our community.   Please feel free to contact me if I can help you in any way.
